artist's statement

I've just sent a small collection of work off to a Gallery in Leicestershire which needs to be accompanied by an Artist's Statement.
Just glancing at a handful of posts and articles on the net indicates how challenging this task is, with artists expressing all their anxieties have about writing about their own work. At least I don't feel alone. I have written artist's statements in the past, but with each new exhibition of work, its a good idea to keep it up to date and fresh. Your work changes and evolves so should your statement.
This small collection of work is inspired by Cornish fishing villages and i'm really pleased with how the work has turned out.

a new blog

This is my new blog in addition to my website www.textile illustration.co.uk as I thought it would be an interesting idea to have regular insight into my creative practice. I hope it will be a good way of keeping folk updated with my work, forthcoming shows, craft fairs and workshops.

Please bare with me as I add content and set up the blog. Thank you for your patience.

long pieces

I've been working in the studio today on a couple of long applique pieces for an upcoming show. I've managed to hand piece them both today but its taken me a while longer than usual as they are slightly more intricate.
